The Black Girls Don’t Get Love Hybrid Mini-Producing Lab is an after-school program for students in grades 9 to 12, to practice writing pitch decks based on the published Black Girls Don’t Get Love book. At the end of the program, students will have the opportunity to pitch their concepts to a panel of media industry judges and compete for a monetary prize. Program Summary
The Black Girls Don’t Get Love Hybrid Mini-Producing Lab is an opportunity for students in grades 9 to 12, to practice creating their own pitch decks based on the published Black Girls Don’t Get Love book. Our team of media industry professionals will teach students the fundamentals of producing, such as independent financing, pitch preparation, marketing, and networking.
At the end of the program, students in the Hybrid Mini-Producing Lab will have the opportunity to pitch their story concepts to a panel of media industry judges at a public event in front of their family, friends, and community members.
The winning pitch deck will be purchased by the Black Girls Don’t Get Love production company and be considered for inclusion in the Black Girls Don’t Get Love television series. The purpose of the Black Girls Don’t Get Love Hybrid Mini-Producing Lab is to empower students to tell their own stories and provide them with the skills they need to be successful filmmakers by teaching and critiquing them at a Hollywood-standard level.
