The Black Girls Don't Get Love Outdoor Exploration was a free event for girls of color, ages 5-25, to experience a one-day camping simulation locally. Girls enjoyed tents, fire pit roasted s'mores, games, and bird watching as local nature experts facilitated creative nature-related activities. Our goal with this event was to use nature as a tool for our girls to learn more about themselves and the world around them. This event was funded by the Cornell Ornithology Lab in the hopes that we would foster a space where nature, with an emphasis on birding, would be seen as a tool for mindfulness and healing.
