The Black Girls Don’t Get Love Construction Training Program

The Black Girls Don't Get Love Construction Training Program is an opportunity for girls & women of color and non-BIPOC female allies, to learn basic electrical, plumbing, flooring, and maintenance skills. The workshop curriculum is crafted to provide participants with a robust understanding of essential trades vital to the construction industry.

In the fall of 2024, The Black Girls Don’t Get Love Construction Training Program was held in Syracuse, NY. Over the course of four comprehensive sessions, the program provided free hands-on construction & home-repair training for Black women and girls ages 13 and up.

Sessions were taught by Heartfelt Construction & O.F.A. Construction, Inc. and covered topics essential to the construction trade such as electrical, plumbing, flooring, and drywall repair. Several of our trainees are now considering careers in the construction industry, and all of our participants now have the skills needed to complete basic building and maintenance tasks.
